General Board / Oracle Replication
« on: November 01, 2012, 05:15:32 am »
Does anyone have any experience with using EA on a replicated Oracle DB?  Basically we use a central db hosted in London from Australia, US and Israel and while performance over Citrix is OK much of the time, it becomes unacceptably slow at others, espeically from Israel which has a relatively high-latency WAN connection.

Yes we do - we have an EA db on a central Oracle server that is accessed from around the world.  Most of the London team just access it directly but US and Oz offices go through Citrix for performance reasons.  We just have the floating licence server on an accessible (to Citrix) shared drive and the Citrix user just checks out and releases the license as normal.

Does anyone know if it is possible to increase the font size for a user in text entry forms e.g. Notes fields for Use cases?  I have team members who struggle.

Bugs and Issues / Re: EA10 BPMN2 Business process sequence flow join

So a business process is effectively (in UML terms) a package?  Makes sense.  From a user perspective - (actually from my perspective), a more useful script would be to change business process elements into activities with compostite diagrams.....

Simon - yes I have submitted a bug report.

Some questions:

1.  Are <<Business Process>> elements not just stereotyped activities?
2.  If not, where do they appear in the BPMN 2.0 standard?
3.  Of what use are they if you can't connect them to anything?
4.  Are you going to supply a script which will fix now invalid diagrams or expect users to rebuild their entire library?

No- I think there is a general issue.  We have been using BPMN 2.0 also with V9.  The validity checking is different between 9.3 and 10.  the issue we get is that trying to edit v9.3 diagrams in 10 crashes the system. >:(

Interestingly (as in the Chinese curse) - if I rename the offending stereotypes to "do not use", do not use1" etc, it merely creates a new one in the list and doesn't overwrite the one I'm trying to remove.  For something so easy to create, they sure are sticky  >:(

Thanks for all the responses, apologies for my tardiness - been away.

I've tried all suggestions for searching etc and with one of them there were 5 rogue objects.  I've set them to the correct stereotype so none left, tried to delete and same thing happens.

If I create a sterotype through the UML Types screen I can immediately delete it but generally not.

Really frustrating as I now have sterotypes of <existing>, Bountary, Bou and holycow!

I'm running on an Oracle Db by the way.

Apologies if this is too basic but I'm trying to delete some sterotypes that have been inadvertently created by people typing not selecting.  I can go to the Settings-->UML Types-->Stereotypes Tab-->{highlight}-->[Delete] but all that happens is that the Stereotype name, class and Notes get cleared, the list refreshes and low and behold the entry is still there.

Security is not enabled so it's not that and the Help offers no help.

Uml Process / Re: Use Case - Primary / Secondary Actors
« on: September 27, 2012, 01:35:41 am »
Generally if a directed Association has the arrow head at the use case it is a Primary and if the arrow head is at the actor it is a secondary.  We use eaDocx to report on this and it works well.
