Suggestions and Requests / Allow non clustered primary keys in DDL
« on: May 04, 2004, 03:51:01 pm »
When generating DDL for SQL Server allow non clustered primary keys. I don't believe there is any way to create non clustered primary keys when generating DDL for SQL Server. I have asked how to do this many times in the other forums and have never recieved an answer.

A bit of a long shot, but worth looking into...

In the UML Settings / Stereotypes dialog, click on each of the "column" stereotypes. Look at the Group Name field - which does not show up in the list view - and compare the case there.

As I understand it, the Group Name field provides the heading for grouping elements with a given stereotype. If you have two (otherwise) identical stereotypes with different group names, you will likely end up with two groups.

This is the problem, there aren't two column stereotypes only one and its the one that's all lower case. So where is the uppper case stereotype coming from?

You can make it one group by fxing your stereotypes so that they all use the same case.

I just looked under Settings | UML | Stereotypes and only see the stereo type with the lower case column. I don't see one that starts with an upper case letter. Now what?

Thank for the reply. The sorting has been fixed by unchecking the sort option which is great.

I can also mostly fix the grouping by unchecking Group Attributes by Stereotype, but this doesn't really solve the problem, it just hides it. When the Group Attributes is checked it causes all the table attributes to be put in a group called Columns and another group called columns. How can I make this one group?

General Board / ordering of table columns

I think after I did the upgrade to version 6.1 all my database table columns were re-sorted in alphabetical order. This I don't like and want to be able to order them the way I specify. Is this possible? The other thing that happend after the upgrade is that the columns got group together into two different groups, once called columns and the other called Columns. The difference being the first capital letter. How can I fix this?

Thanks.

General Board / Re: How to document required entry fields

I think you answered my question well, I should have asked it a bit better. Here is a another question. What other diagrams would required fields be in. I can understand how the class and data diagrams would incorporate required fields into their properties, but what about use cases and other requirements analysis?

Hello all,

I am trying to figure out what the correct way to document something like required order entry fields.

Say if I have a form where a employee creates new new order and I have a certain number of fields that are required how do I document this in UML?

EA is not ERWIN :-/ I'm not a power dabase user, so EA's capabilities are enough for me. AFAIK there is only some support for table properties via tags, but not for columns. You might ask for that in the suggestions forum.

Thamas,

Thank you for the answer, this is what I needed to know.

Ok, since nobody knows how to do this how do you set the value of a column level property in a database table. If this is not possible to do it makes this application a lot less useful for building databases.

Does anyone know how to set column level Collation for SQL Server. I need to change to something other then the default for one of my columns to make it case sensitive.

Build 752 includes a fix - due out in a week or so.

Have you now decided that your not going to fix this until the next full release?

In the release "after" build 751 - the fix was too late to make it to build 751.

OK, what am I missing here. I went and downloaded and installed tine path that is listed after the full version executable. I still am having this problem. I am downloading the wrong patch?

OK, I just downloaded and installed build 751 and I still have this problem. What do I do  now? This has made my project useless as the database is almost the only reason why I use this.
