Suggestions and Requests / Re: element tasks properties
« on: January 21, 2005, 05:41:04 am »
I've been following this thread and would also like to see it happen.  I'm currently trying to push the EA Object Maintenance for our project change and defect tracking.  My problem is that the current Priority, and Status selections don't match what management wants  and there isn't a way to modify the selections.

Suggestions and Requests / Child Diagrams in Element RTF Reports
« on: February 11, 2005, 08:53:39 am »
I need to have object child diagrams included in RTF reports generated from an element selected in a diagram.

When an RTF report is generated for an object selected in a diagram, the Child Diagrams attached to that object are not included, even though the option is checked in the RTF Document dialog.  When the document is generated from the Project View the child diagrams are included.

Suggestions and Requests / RTF Reports from the Project View
« on: February 11, 2005, 08:47:21 am »
I'd like to be able to generate RTF documentation for and individual object from the Project Viewer.

It's possible to generate an RTF report for an individual object (class, use case, etc.) selected in a Diagram from the Element Menu. When the same object is selected in the Project Viewer it can't be done - a document can only be generated at the Package level.  I wouldn't seem that this would be a big thing to do and would save me creating a log of unnecessary packages or filters just for document creation.

General Board / Re: Beta 5

??? A couple of things I need added in the reporting function.
1) The same fuctionality for generating a report on an element from the Project View as from a diagram.  I want to be able to select a single element in the Project View and generate a report without having to do a report on the entire package.  For example, I need a report on one table in the schema and not the entire database.  As it is now, I need a seperate package for each element just for reporting!
2) When generating a report on an element (either from a diagram - and hopefully from the Project View), the report need to include any child diagrams attached to the element.

As always, EA is a great product that just keeps getting better.  I've been trying to sell it to anyone who will listen.  Thanks

General Board / Re: Testing and requirements

If internal requirements, constraints, and scenarios are attached to either a Requirement or Use Case element (or any other element), EA allows them to be migrated into test cases for that element.  Test cases are divided into Unit, Integration, System, Acceptence, and Scenario groups.

1) Open the Testing window (Alt+3).
2) Select the element in either a diagram or the project browser.
3) Select the tab for the test type.
4) Right-click in the Testing window opens a menu to allow you to enter, modify, import requirements, constraints, or scenarios as test cases.  It also allows you to import tests from another element.

Go to Diagram Properties and uncheck "Highlight Foreign Objects".  That should do it.

This is great news.  I've been working to implement EA HTML reports as Web-Based Help on my project here for some time.  I look forward to seeing you approach.

General Board / EA 4.51 Installation Problem
« on: February 10, 2005, 06:15:31 am »
??? Has anyone else had a problem installing EA 4.51(builds 745, 746,and 747) onto a system running Windows NT sp6?  I've tried it on a couple of systems on my project here and gotten the same Installer Error 1722 after which the installation aborts.  I can go back and reinstall Build 744 without any problem.
