Bugs and Issues / Re: Connection lines intersection

What I guessed. The connectors you used are (Archimate-) stereotyped. And they have an underlying shape script. Obviously this shape script does not render hops. You might send a feature request. Or maybe have a beer to drown your disappointment.

q.

Yeah, I'll need a lot of beer :-)
Thank you for make things clear.

Two solid lanes will intersect with a hop.

Doesn't happen.

I can't think of an instance where a relationship will be shown with both a solid and non-solid line on the same diagram.

Can it be valid example? It's standard ArchiMate modelling.

Well, that's not exactly what Visio offers. For example when you resize element Visio can show when this width is same as other element's. Or when you resize it can snap to same side position of neighbor element.

Other thing what I miss is guide lines. That would be great thing.
But, as was already mentioned EA isn't a Visio and will never get there :-)

Is there any chance EA would have same alignment as Visio does (aligning with other elements' positions, sizes during moving resizing etc)?
I understand the purpose of EA is a bit different than Visio has but sometimes it annoys spending much time trying to make diagrams neat

So do I understand correctly the fact intersections of same relation types sometimes are shown and sometimes aren't can be considered as a bug and reported accordingly?

Can intersection be defined by shape script?

Hi.
I have noticed the elements connection lines intersection isn't always shown as one. Sometimes it shows intersection (as a semicirle) but more often it doesn't. Is it a bug or rather caused by connection type (I mostly use ArchiMate extension's ones)?

Also I'm unable to show element's tags on the diagram. I tried to turn on tags showing as described here. But tags didn't show up.
When I removed stereotype the tags did show up. So I suspect their visibility is suppressed in ArchiMate_Network sterotype. Is there any way to override this?

Look closely at the the image, there is one extension, and one generalization.
Make sure it looks exactly like the image in the help page.

Yeah, it extends Class and generalizes Archimate2::ArchiMate_Network:

I believe you can also remove the _image attribute completely in order to get the exact rendering of the parent.

Indeed removing the _image attribute helped :-)

If all else fails, you can still use the complete archimate shapescript

My goal is actually to inherit as much as possible and do copy/paste as little as possible :-)

Ok, that helped! :-)
I was under impression the Application Service extended Class metatype and tried to change element's metatype from Component to Class. Once I changed it to Activity and added required stereotype that made a trick.
Thanks a lot!

Yeah, that was it! That's strange the Sparx manual doesn't mention necessity to extend the metaclass.
Only unclear thing left - why the element's color isn't same as Archimate2::ArchiMate_Network?

Also now when I drag an element to the diagram I get a menu to choose between two identical elements. Does it have something with the fact my stereotype extends two classes at once?
though it's not that that terrible.
Thank you guys for the help.

remove the stereotype, change the element type and apply the new stereotype.

I did that but element appearance hasn't changed:

Is it possible to change element's metatype?

Yes, that was first attempt. Appearance is same.
