General Board / AWS, Azure, GCP icons
« on: February 02, 2019, 01:54:24 am »
Hello All,
This is a request rather than a question. We are interested in having all AWS and Azure icons created as shape scripts. Similar to what exists on draw.io. I know this forum has many examples on how to create shape scripts, but we don't have the time or the resources to pursue it. We are interested in doing a paid engagement where someone can create these for us. I thought this might be a good place to ask. Will anyone be interested?
Thank you

I have found a solution. The following fixes it:

1.       In “Display Settings” > “Change the size of text, apps, and other items”, set it to 150% ( in my case, at resolution of 1920 x 1080).
2.       Check the “Mark this my main display” checkbox, if using multiple displays with the setting of “extend these displays”.

Hello,
I just started using 13.5 on Windows 10. When I generate documentation the diagrams are getting chopped at a certain size. The type of diagram or the output format has no bearing. The same thing happens if I go to the diagram, select all elements and copy, and paste it in a Microsoft Word document. The exact same version and model works fine on Windows 7.
Has anyone else come across this, and any solution?
Thank you in advance for your time and knowledge.

General Board / Client and Repository versions compatibility question
« on: September 19, 2017, 09:49:09 pm »
Hello,
The question is regarding a setup where EA uses a database repository.

Can an EA 12 version client use a database with EA 13 schema version?
Also, can an EA 13 client use a database with EA 12 schema?

Thank you in advance for your time and input.

General Board / Visibility of attributes for Node
« on: June 08, 2017, 12:50:53 am »
Hello,
I am trying to show attributes defined in a Node. I have tried the following:

  • In a Deployment diagram, use a Node element from the Deployment toolbox.
  • Open Node > Features & Properties > Attributes and add an attribute with all columns filled.
  • By default the attributes of all types are set to be visible in Features & Properties.

But, after doing the above, the attributes are not showing. I know I can get around this by adding Tags.

Thank you in advance for your time and reply.

General Board / Disabling popup on reconnect
« on: March 29, 2017, 04:18:39 am »
Hello,
I am using EA 12 with a shared repository on the network. When I have EA open on my laptop and go from a wired (docked) network to a wireless network or any situation that causes EA to lose connection with the database on the network then it gives a popup saying "connection has been lost" and I have to click "OK" for it to reconnect.
Is there a setting that will make EA graciously try reconnecting without showing the popup (and a manual option to do a force reconnect if needed)? I have looked at all options but haven't found any, unless I missed it.
Thank you in advance for your time and thoughts.

Nairam, thank you very much for sharing the detailed solution! Truly appreciate it! I will try it out. And I concur with RoyC, your English is perfect! :)

I tried, and realized it puts it in the main document where "package" section starts. I am trying to put it on the first page, that is a static content page, that only has the solution name. The layout of my template is:
header - solution name (this is what I am trying to turn it into a solution level variable)
first page - static content with solution name (this is what I am trying to turn it into a solution level variable)
second page (and onwards) - table of contents
third page onwards - main content loop that recursively builds out the solution documentation.

Thank you

General Board / Re: Display of element tags when instanced

Found it :) Thank you!

Thanks Uffe. Yes, I generate document off a package. Yes, I can add a tagged value in that package. How do I output it? I went to document template and there is no option to insert a "tag".
Thanks

I am using v12. I did look at Diagram > Properties > Features before but I don't see it there.
Thank you

Thanks querty. Where did you see that option (Show Inherited Tags)?

I am using EA with shared repository (SQL Server). I have a template that is used for document generation and it is common for all the solutions in the repository. I want to add a variable in the template for "solution name" so that when a specific solution uses the template to generate documentation it can get a pop up or some way to input the solution name at run time. I don't want to use Project Constants or Report Constants as they have a global affect.
Is there any way to do this?
Thank you in advance for your time and input.
