General Board / Re: Archimate Information Flow

Thank you Gert - could you point me at how to create the Stereotype?  Is just via the UML types and if so could you help with how it should be defined?

Thanks a lot!

In my version i can add items to an Archimate_Flow stereotype but only if I change the type from ControlFlow to InformationFlow.  I cannot add an item to a ControlFlow with Archimate_Flow strereotype.  How can i post a picture?

Thanks!

General Board / Best practice for TAG naming convention
« on: February 01, 2024, 09:56:23 pm »
Hello,

I wonder if the best naming convention for tags is to use the 2 colons and have something like:
<tag_group>::<tag_name> for example:

metrics::suitability

Is that a good approach or there is a better one?

Thanks!

Thank you - the information flow in the toolbox appeared to work once but it has not worked since.
What I am really trying to do is to use the association relationship (chapter 5.2.4 "Association Relationship" see this post:
https://sparxsystems.com/forums/smf/index.php/topic,44694.msg263367.html#msg263367 and I assumed that it would be via an Archimate_Flow flow strereotype which should be accessible in the toolbox via the information flow item. The issue is that the Information Flow item in the toolbox does not work so what I have to do is:
  • Crete a relationship of any type
  • Change the type to Information Flow
  • Now the stereotype becomes Archimate_Flow
At that point the stereotype allows me to add the data item.
What I am looking to do is to be able to create the flow without the need to change the type.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!

Hello - What is the best way to add Archimate Information Flows to an Archimate Application diagram?
I seem to only be able by dragging a relationship and then changing the type.  Is there a better way?

Thanks

I am referring to this video

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP_RaZzRe98

I wonder if we have access to his MDG 6FS-AWS custom MDG (minute 26:30).

Thanks

OK - thanks.  In the video the presenter talks about defining an MDG with actual UML objects (e.g. VM) with predefined icons.  How would one go about  doing that?

Thanks!

I have tested the AWS Model and with that one i can see the correct toolbox (Group) but not with Azure.

I noticed that the Azure sample is a class diagram while AWS is a Component diagram.  I think that I am far from understanding how this is supposed to work so any help would be appreciated.

At this point I am stuck with icons only but no elements in the toolbox.  I can create a new Azure Diagram but the toolbox does not have the Azure entities.
Any ideas?

Hello,

I have Sparx 16 and I would like to start using the Azure MDG - I have seen the YouTube video and  I wonder if there are other resources that I can look at?

Thanks

I use them for real in version 14 and I tend to having to restart / delete all the previous messages when I have to make changes.

Many thanks!
So as per help the idea is to set attributes in the classifier and then set the values in the instances, right?

General Board / Deployment Diagram Example
« on: March 17, 2022, 02:59:58 am »
Hello,

I am looking at the sample deployment diagram here:
https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/15.2/model_domains/deploymentdiagram.html

The web server shows a number of attributes (Processor / RAM).  Are they actually tags? And if so are they displayed without the compartment label by using a custom script?

Many thanks
