Hello, I am attempting to model interfaces in IBDs in SysML 1.5 and when I "Synchronize Structural Elements" to make the part properties appear in the diagram, it deletes the names that I gave the part properties in the model browser.  If I try to rename the part properties on the IBD then synchronize again, the names are deleted again.  These are part properties that are typed by blocks, per SysML.  Is this a bug or user error?

General Board / CSV Export in Random Order?
« on: September 14, 2023, 06:53:34 am »
I wanted to export my requirements from EA into an excel file for readability outside the EA tool.  When I tried to export using the CSV Import/Export tool, it did export, however it ordered them in a random order in the excel file, rather than the organized headings and subheadings I set up in the Project Browser.  Is there some setting or something I need to change to force it to export in the same order as the project browser?  Or is there a better process for this?

I tried to check the "Preserve Hierarchy" setting in the csv specification, but it didn't make a difference.

Thanks for the responses.  For the linked document approach, after you create a linked document and save it, it doesn't look any different in the model browser.  Is there a way to show this linked document underneath the requirement element in the model browser?

General Board / Add Images or Tables to Requirement Elements?

Hello,

Newish to EA, but very familiar with SysML tools.  Is there a way to add images and/or tables directly into requirement element's "Notes" attribute?  I am utilizing EA to capture all of my product requirements and it is painful to have to reference images and tables stored in a document storage system through a hyperlink rather than store them directly within the requirements tool.

What I've done in the past in other MBSE tools is utilize the "Satisfy" relationship to identify which configurations or components within those configurations are allocated which requirements.  Then you'll have a matrix of all of the requirements in rows, and columns identifying traceability of applicability of requirements.  I know you can do that in EA too, but not sure about the readability.  I like that approach because you only define your requirements once, then reuse them across your various configurations (YAY model element reuse!)

Other tools also have functions to create custom tables showing only requirements that a satisfied by a specific element, which provides great readability for each configuration.  I have yet to figure out how to do this in EA (I have done it in Cameo utilizing metachains and filters in the past)
