General Board / include (insert) diagram in RTF document

I am writing a lengthy document using the build in editor as word processor. EA has come a long way and the editor is very decent and very usable nowadys.

Using the context menu I can insert Embed Picture... | Link Picture... | OLE Object... | etc..

Maybe I am overlooking something maybe I'm just plain blind. But how can I insert a diagram.

I have a few diagrams (mind map, white board, etc..) I want to add to the RTF documentation in such a fashion they are updated automatically when I edit the diagrams in EA.

Generated documentation is not an option since I am (mis)using the RTF editor as a word processor replacement generating some documentation for presentation purposes.

Well, it works. Partially, that is.

In IE it jumps to the GUID (element) and unfolds the tree on the left. In Firefox it jumps to the GUID (element) but the tree on the left does not unfold leaving the user clueless where he is.

We use: Firefox.

I tried the search before the posting, but I have not been able to come up with usable search results.

Can I link into the HTML generated documentation at all?? When I open the index.html and click through the documentation, the address bar does not change.

Hello,

Is it possible to jump directly into the generated HTML documentation?

We use confluence as a WIKI and we would like to link into the EAP generated HTML documentation preferably using a GUID so we won't have to fix broken links.

I experience exact the same problem with Open Office for Windows version 2.3.1

The build-in viewer displays the text as expected, Open Office underlines all text. Is this a known issue at Sparx? Will it be solved.

Somehow changing it around underlining the whole text and not to underline the important parts does not seem to work for my audience.

Thanks for the reply and the elaboration.

But could you tell me how it is implemented. Why, when I choos Firebird, does it insert extra statements into the SQL as where it doesn't when I choose Interbase.

Is this hard coded into EAP or in a template? When I look at Setting|Transformations Template|DDL I cannot find a coorelation between the generated DDL code and the database of my choosings.

General Board / Firebird / New database types / DDL generation

Hi,

I added a new database product (Firebird) through Settings | Database datatypes into the model. However, behaviour is totally different from the exiting database datatypes Interbase. All fields are by default "not null"and are initialzed by default to NULL. Furthermore is the generated DDL more like Oracle then like Interbase. Where do I control this? I looked around but cannot find any means of controlling the generated SQL. How do I tell EAP the Firebird DDL is more like Interbase then Oracle.

Bugs and Issues / Project | Use Case Metrics throwing an error

Hello,

I am using EA with a PostgreSQL backend. I want to start using the "Use Case Metrics" dialog, but it is throwing errors at me.

When I select "Use Case Metrics" I get 19x the following error message:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers [-2147467259]

ERROR: function to_number(character varying, numeric) does not exist; Error while executing the query.



Is this a known bug? Is there a work-around?

I found the context menu option. However, this is not a solution.

Explicit connector will be forgotten. No option either.

I'll go for the feature request.

It is so dead important for us to track on these licenses to avoid surprises in the future. Do you have a link for me where I can place the feature request?

Uml Process / Hierarchy issue

I don't know if my problem is by design or by definition for that matter, but I can't seem to solve it.

I create components of 3rd Party products I deploy with our product. Be it commercial or open source. I create a component for all licenses. I do have a component for the Apache 2.0 License, for example. I also have an Apache Webserver component. I create a dependency between the Apache Webserver component and the Apache 2.0 License component. No HTTP server without a license so to say.

I go through all this trouble to be able to track on all licenses in the project and see which licenses are all needed at deployment. When I click on the Apache Webserver component I see which licenses is needed in the hierarchy window. In the hierarchy window I then click on the Apache 2.0 license and I see all products using the Apache 2.0 license. The CastleProject for example.

However, when I create a deployment diagram and I drop an instantiated component of the Apache Webserver into an Execution Environment container, the hierarchy tree is broken. When I click on the Apache Webserver object I don't see the license attached to the Apache Webserver component (from which the Apache Webserver instance was created). For that matter, I cannot see where the Apache Webserver is instantiated from at all.

Is there a way to navigate from an instance to not-instance (can't come up with an appropriate english word for the moment) to its dependencies.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / RTF Report generation / Page header

Hi,

I use the page header and page footer for informational purposes like documetent title, page number and date. When I set page header and page footer to visible in the RTF template and print the document, the page header and page footer are not printed!?!

Is this a bug or am I overlooking something.
