General Board / Re: Guards on Connectors
« on: March 31, 2012, 03:29:34 am »
Unfortunately, something is different in my installation. I can only see the guards in state and activity diagrams, but nowhere else. I don't have a problem defining the guard itself.

Sorry, I don't understand. I followed those steps, but still don't see the guard in the diagram. Not getting what 'edit on new' has to do with display options :-)

General Board / Guards on Connectors

I can put a Guard (Constraint) on a Connector, but how do I get it to display? This works fine automatically in a State or Activity diagram, but not, seemingly, in other diagrams. (I'm drawing a Flow Chart, specifically.)

Very cool! Thanks q. This solves both issues :-)

General Board / Flow Charts
« on: March 28, 2012, 01:53:58 am »
We use the 'flow chart' tool heavily for our process maps, as it corresponds most closely with our internal standards. I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there a way to make the tool more prominent in the Toolbox, as it is buried in sub-menus? (I'm aware of the click + space shortcut.)
2. Is there any way to add an element type to the Flow Chart toolbox, specifically the 'Partition' element (for swimlanes)?
Thanks,
Frank

Is there anyway to link an arbitrary element to a separate diagram, or to any arbitrary external link (document, web page, etc.)? Ideally, double-clicking the element would take you to the linked object.

Is it possible to change a Topic to a Main Topic (etc.)?

General Board / Class attribute constraints

I've added a constraint to an attribute. However, it does not appear in the diagram. Is there a way to get it to display?

General Board / Nested Class names

If I place a class inside a component, EA prepends the component name to the class name. How do I prevent that?

General Board / Hyperlink appearance
« on: May 09, 2009, 04:50:29 am »
I'm using hyperlinks to create a 'master' page which can be used to navigate to other diagrams. As such, I represent each link as a box, with no icon. I can accomplish this manually, but it's very tedious! I have to go in and set an explicit border and background colour, etc. Is there any way to set up the default appearance of hyperlinks? (I couldn't find any obvious options that would allow this.)

General Board / Parts
« on: March 12, 2009, 08:15:28 am »
In books and websites I see that Parts are labelled:

name:role

whereas EA seems to display:

role/name

Am I doing something wrong?

General Board / Re: Paramterised classes (templates)

Thanks, that's what I expected :-(
By the way, though, the books and websites I've looked at show it as inheritance rather than a dependency. Dependency appears to be the standard.

General Board / Paramterised classes (templates)
« on: May 14, 2008, 01:49:13 am »
Has anyone used these? I can define the class, but I would like to add a 'bound class', as well. I.e., a class that inherits from the template and binds a specific class to the parameter. In various books (e.g., O'Reilly's UML 2.0 in a Nutshell), this is shown with a <<bind>> stereotype followed by: <T=xyz>, where 'xyz' is a class name.

Is there a way to do this directly in EA?
