General Board / Include Resources in MDG Technology
« on: April 11, 2011, 09:57:52 pm »
Hello,

I've created a MDG Technology with some Diagram Templates and Stereotypes.
Now I want to add some additional resources like "General Constraint Types" or "Scenario Types". I'm able to export these resources via "Export Reference Data" and also import the data again. But I don't see any possibility to include the generated XML files into my MDG Technology.
Do I oversee anything? Or is this feature simply missing?

Thanks
Kind regards
Michael

General Board / Re: Reserved Error (-1601) when creating replica
« on: May 21, 2010, 07:20:22 pm »
Hello again,

apparently I've neglected one important detail: the EAP. File which is converted to the master is stored on a network share. Creating a replica from this location leads to the described error.
After several faulty attempts I copied the master on the local PC. Now the replica can be created!

Not sure if this is the normal behaviour of the JET driver, but for me it works - only have to move some files back and forth.

regards
Michael

General Board / Reserved Error (-1601) when creating replica
« on: May 21, 2010, 05:40:51 pm »
Hello,

after configuring a new PC it's impossible to create new replicas. Every attempt, even with a new Project (thus with a new EAP-File) fails with the error message:
"Reserved Error (-1601); there is no message for this error"

The error points to MS Access - but that's it?
Compacting the database or the integrity check doesn't solve the problem.

Any suggestions?

I've used EA 7.5 build 848 and 850 respectively.

thanks & regards
Michael

General Board / Deploying MDG via https?
« on: April 20, 2010, 01:45:07 am »
I've created a MDG technology which I want to deploy via a web server.
The server only allows secure https connects.
Unfortunately I see no way to pass user and password in the "MDG - Advanced" dialog when I specify the URL. Hence a access denied error occurs on startup.

Can anybody tell me if there is any possibility to deploy a MDG Technology via https?

tanks & regards
Michael

General Board / EA as portable appp

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to install / start EA without writing anything in the registry, so one can use EA from an usb stick potentially.

thanks

General Board / Re: control access and modification of model
« on: June 08, 2009, 10:17:16 pm »
OK - I understand that there is no ability to hide some portions of the model.
But what about restricting user access on different model elements.
In the white paper "Deployment of EA" there is a hint to manage multiple projects in one model (page 6). Each Project should be a seperate root node.

Text from the white paper:
Quote
Additionally, Enterprise Architect’s security can be used to restrict a user’s access to certain areas (for example root nodes) that they are involved in.

How can I do that?

General Board / Re: BPMN: Linking Start Events with a diagram
« on: May 09, 2009, 06:38:49 am »
I asked the support for this feature. Unfortunately there is no way to link an event with a diagram. A feature request is logged and will be considered for future versions.

Here is another workaround (if appropriate):
If you use the same Link-type IntermediateEvent on two diagrams, you can select it and press Ctrl+U to find its usage, i.e. a list of diagrams it appears on. You can double-click on a diagram in the list to open it.

General Board / BPMN: Linking Start Events with a diagram

Hi,

I want to design some Processes using the BPMN profile.
With Link Events one can link to corresponding links in different diagrams.
Is there any possibility to make this link clickable?
At the moment I'm not even able to establish the link between the two events (tagged value, properties etc.?)

Any suggestions on how to link one BPMN Event with another?

thanks and greetings, Michael

General Board / Re: Show Profile Namespace in Diagrams

Hi,

got the answer from the Sparx Support:

Hello Michael,

I'm afraid there is currently no way to display stereotype namespaces in the way that you suggest.

There are a number of work-arounds that you can consider. My first thought would be that the context should take care of things, so that BPMN stereotypes only appear on BPMN diagrams, WSDL stereotypes on WSDL diagrams, Data Modelling stereotypes on Data Modelling diagrams, etc. If you have stereotypes from multiple profiles on a single diagram, it would certainly be worth investigating whether breaking the problem onto multiple diagrams would clarify matters.

Another idea is to have the profile name appear in the stereotype name as a prefix. For example, in our Enterprise Java Bean profile the stereotypes are named like <<EJBSessionBean>> instead of <<SessionBean>>.

I hope you can find a workable solution using the above suggestions. I have logged a feature request in your name asking for optional display of stereotype namespaces.

General Board / Show Profile Namespace in Diagrams
« on: April 24, 2009, 06:19:19 pm »
Hi,

I want to import multiple profiles in my model. This results in a huge amount of stereotypes.
The help from EA (Version 7.1.834) says: "The stereotypes within each profile use the profile name as the namespace."
Showing the namespace in the diagrams would help to remain focused.

Is there any possibility to show the namespace in the diagrams. E. g.: <<MyProfile.MyStereotype>>

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

General Board / Re: EA and Polarion ALM?
« on: April 30, 2009, 11:17:50 pm »
Hi,

look at http://www.polarion.com/products/connectors/ea.php.
Polarion provides a connector to sync EA Elements with Polarion Work Items.
With this connector you can create "Proxy" Work Items for, e.g. Use Cases (or whatever you want). In Polarion you then have the full traceability.

I've never used id in my own projects - only some tests done. So I can't tell you if this is a scaleable solution. But I think it's worth the try.

greetings, Michael
