Bugs and Issues / failed to create empty document

Hello,
  I just intalled EA (desktop edition), and on trying to run it, I get the error pop-up "failured to create empty document". The only option is to click OK, at which point, EA closes.

Has anyone else dealt with (and hopefully resolved) this problem?

I had the trial version installed, but it had expired.  I removed it prior to installing EA8.0 desktop.

Uml Process / View vs Model

I am finding it difficult to get information on the difference between a "View" and a "Model".  E.g. when setting up an EA Project using the model-wizard, I can have it include a Component-Model as well as a Component-View.  Or I can take a Analysis Model or Analysis View.

Can someone help explain why I might work with a "Model" item vs a "View" item.
