Suggestions and Requests / Re: New online lesson

Ok I just spent the better part of the day creating requirements in RaQuest, and creating a relationship matrix between my requirements - TEST001 is related to PART001 for example. Now when I open the project in EA, how can I see those relationships? Surely I do NOT have to recreate them!!!

The relationships between requirements, made by matrix of RaQuest, is dependency relationships between elements in Enterprise Architect.
You can see it in Enterprise Architect by putting TEST001 and PART001 in one diagram.

When I ipen the *.EAP file I created in RaQuest in EA, I see an RaQuest package in EA, with package ##RaQuestInfo##, and then packages Trash and Work underneath that. Underneat Work, I see the Relationship maps I created in RaQuest.

In RaQuest, Tools | Project Options | General Features 1 tab has "Save a relationship map as requirement's child diagram" checkbox.
Check it, then you can also create relationship map under requirements, but in Work package.

Thank you for your comment.

As you say, following:

General Board / new EA Add-In "Collaboration Addin"
« on: January 19, 2010, 07:12:07 pm »
Hello all,

We have been developing a new EA Add-In for enhancing the usability of editing the same project by multiple users at the same time.
We named this as "Collaboration Addin".

Want to know more?  See the following URL.

General Board / Re: RaQuest and generated use case requirements
« on: January 05, 2010, 06:23:25 pm »
"Generate Requirements from Use Cases" command of current RaQuest only corresponds with root package.
So, when UseCases Package is changed in the "Generate Requirements from Use Cases" dialog, a new element is created.

At the same time, RaQuest corresponds with package structure as well, so would it be an alternative to create a package in the target UseCases packages?

In other words, when UseCases in the package "View.UseCases.Package1" corresponds with RaQuest, select a package of "View.UseCases", but not "View.UseCases.Package1", in the "Generate Requirements from UseCases" dialog.
Would it meet your request?

Bugs and Issues / Re: Slow access with RaQuest at MS SQL Server
« on: September 11, 2012, 05:18:48 pm »
Thank you very much for using RaQuest.

Taking some time to open a RaQuest file is an issue of RaQuest at the moment.

Enterprise Architect displays only a part of Project Tree when opening a file. Whereas RaQuest displays List at file opening.  This causes RaQuest to take some time to read a lot information from a project when opening a file.

We will improve RaQuest to open a file more quickly.

However, the slow opening may be caused by some other reasons, so please could you take a log by the following steps and send it to RaQuest support ([email protected])?

- Launch 'Start -> RaQuest -> Execution Log Viewer'
- Start RaQuest
- Open a file
- Store the detail information by 'File -> Save As' of Execution Log Viewer

Bugs and Issues / Re: user defined attributes versus EA tags

Is something similar feature at RaQuest too?
Currently, RaQuest does not have the feature to define template for requirements.
It is a matter of future implementation.

Quote
And if I define tags at EA first they do not appear at RaQuest. Why?
In RaQuest, they have to be defined as User-Defined Attribute to show.

When you defined tags at EA first, you define the same name's attribute at User-Defined Attribute in RaQuest to make them appear.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Can NOT delete requirement(s) in RaQuest

Or can I? If so how?

I right-click on a newly-created requirement either on the browser or list window and the Delete option is greyed out? I had to open the project up in EA to be able to delete it.
We speculate that the option setting prevents the deletion of requirements.
Please check the option settings of Main Menu | Tools | Project Options | General Features 1's "Can delete items," "Exclude requirements" and etc.

in the future build, we consider the change of UI to something like displaying an error message rather than graying out the menu option.

Bugs and Issues / Re: RaQuest Relationship Maps do not show Package
« on: December 09, 2009, 06:09:20 pm »

I assigned package ID's to my requirements packages - TEST for Test Requirements, PART for Part Requirement package. I built a relationship between, say, TEST001 to PART001 from each requirement package. Now if I right-click->Show Relationship Map on the TEST001 requirement, the boxes in the map just shows REQ001 and REQ001 (yes 2 REQ001s). Shouldn't they show the assigned package ID's?
In Tools | Project Options | General Features 1 tab, there is a checkbox of "Add PackageID instead of automatic ID prefix."
Checking on it will meet your request.

And Tools | Local Options | View2 tab's "Add Package ID to requirement ID" is also helpful.

Quote
Furthermore, audits flag as 001 being duplicated, but it shouldn't since I have different package ID's. This is probably a sympton of the same issue.
The reason of this issue is that an ID without a package ID is compared.
We will consider if we can fix this.

Bugs and Issues / Re: raquest is to slow using Oracle repository
« on: June 29, 2009, 03:13:41 pm »
There is also a possibility of running slowly because there is a problem in RaQuest.

Please get some information by the following methods in case of both .eap file and oracle repository.
And,please mail them to [email protected]

- Launch 'Start -> RaQuest -> Execution Log Viewer'
- Start RaQuest
- do operation for problem occurs
- Store the detail information by 'File -> Save As' of Execution Log Viewer

One technical questions regarding the network protocol: Is single/simple TCP/IP port use, can the protocal easiely be tunneled using SSH or other VPN solutions?
Yes, as you said, the network protocol is simple TCP/IP.
So it is easily tunneled by SSH or VPN solutions.

First of all, SparxSystems Japan and SparxSystems are the different companies.

This should be a standard feature / capability in EA.
The function like this Collaboration Addin might be the standard feature / capability of EA.
But the current EA doesn't have this function, and it needs a server to work out this kind of function.

And unfortunately, until so far, it seems that this function is not essential for many of the users.
At this point, we got only 20 access to Collaboration Addin web page, and the actual download was made by two users only.

If many users do not need this function, wouldn't it be enough to have this function as an Addin?

Though not so frequently as RaQuest, but we are working on the bug fix and function addition to Collaboration Addin.

Hello all,

We wrote this in the General Board in January, but as we are adviced to post here (Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools), so we are.

We released "Collaboration Addin," the new addin for Enterprise Architect.

http://www.sparxsystems.jp/en/collab/

This Add-In is for enhancing the usability of editing the same project file (or a DBMS server repository) by multiple users at the same time.

The installer, downloadable from the web page, runs as a 30-day trial version.

Please try.

David - just a question about RaQuest- is the synchronisation bi-directional between the spreadsheet and EA? Or is the spreadsheet export only a presentation artefact? Thanks - Jon

RaQuest can import/export CSV files of requirement data.
for Excel files, RaQuest can only export.
RaQuest can synchronize(update) to use by GUID or ID attribute at import CSV file.

And EA can import/export CSV files.

is the RaQuest plug-in extending the EA automation interface in a way that it is possible to exploit the extended requirement properties introduced by RaQuest?
To begin with, all RaQuest's data are stored in EAP file.
It doesn't matter if the extention is rqe, but the format is the same with EAP file.
So, most data are able to be gotten (exploited) by using EA's automation interface.

How to correspond with the issuable data is explained in RaQuest help, [Relationship between RaQuest Objects and Enterprise Architect Objects.]

Specifically I am looking for a way to read out the Update Log infos.
Update Log is currently stored in Constraint of requirements.
This might be changed in the future.  Please note this is unofficial information.
The data structure is likely to be changed in the future, so we cannot mention about it.

>But this assumes that I would use RaQuest for managing the requirements too, right?
I wasn't assuming that situation.
I thought csv import of RaQuest would be easier than using EA API, but in that case, csv import function of EA would be a better suggestion.

If EA API would settle the issue, that is certainly good.
