Bruce,

if only you could convince MS to have aspx-code part of a WebForm (Page) class as is the case for Windows.Forms and persuade them to take a leave from partial classes, *that* would be the major step!

Hi all,

I should perhaps explain, why this feature is so important for any
software architect, not only for me alone:

As an architect, I structure the parts, so the design maps 1-1 to
implementation. Now, what I get as input from side of Business Contacts
and Analysts are a plethora of spurious words and
sometimes colorful, ambivalent PowerPoint presentations or Visio
paintings that I in turn can't rely on.
So, I'll have to do things from scratch. Of course, I have my meetings,
in which I'll have to present my design.
Fact is, that Business contacts then keep urging me to make some fancy-
looking pictures from that ("non-technical" as they call them), so that
they may present this to the business.

So, what I'm doing is to copy the digrams and replace the standard symbols
by some colorful clips. That's exactly what the images.zip is good for.
But now, I need to rotate some of the bitmaps and insert some new ones,
and I run into the transparency problem!
Can I convince Business Analsts, Contacts, Management, and business to use
UML2 or even EA? Of course not! So, whether I love or not, I'll have to
turn good, unmistakable UML design into the world of always-smiling colors,
and any means to facilitate that for me will be a great, great help!

Hello Hans,

so, I guess, you're not from Namibia..

If there is a notion of transparent color within EA, it's not a transparent color within windows: Try it out within Visual Studio, Photoshop or whatever: that maps right into white! And, if you paint the background in RGB (226,226,226) which is the standard background color in EA, what you'll get upon printing, is a grey background rather than a white one!

Hi Thomas,

you may be not sure right now, but I am sure you you will estimate the relief
to achieve more with less effort.
For example, right now, right clicking a thing you certainly do expect
to give you a *context* sensitive menu.

As to the UI Guideline, that was a common agreement between MS,Apple,IBM, and
some others. It held, above all that any UI shall be shallow.
It wasn't MS specific that this rule was broken quite alot.
However, as to Apple's one-button mouse, it shows quite nicely that can work
intuitively and mouse-orientedly even with the handicap of missing 2 or more
other buttons.

As far as I know, dragging a use case to a class won't work, dragging a file from Explorer into any element within EA won't work either.

Whether in some circumstance a drag-drop will mean a special thing depends on the context.

I likewise use to override operators just because they mean certain well-understood things in certain contexts: sorry I'm not a Java guy.

Hi Thomas,

why would you like all that? Is it really worth remembering whether this has to be dragged with control or that with shift if this is a reference called link and that a reference called referenced use case?

After having clicked into a heap of thises and thats, I simply want to make use of them  as painlessly as possible, and working with a good amount of objects within the overburdened UI of EA really is painful!
It should be easier.
