Suggestions and Requests / Re: Creating a new model
« on: May 18, 2011, 05:55:23 pm »
No - Just installed version 9 - The way version 9 creates models are different from version 8 and before. In the older versions you could choose between Simple/Common/Unified Process which does not seem to be available in version 9

Suggestions and Requests / Creating a new model
« on: May 17, 2011, 08:11:14 pm »
Hi,

Cannot create a Dynamic View from the New model dialogue. All of the other UML 2 views can be created from the new project dialogue.

And..

What happened to my Simple option in creating a new model. The new model dialogue now creates the Views with pre-existing content which is unwanted.

Suggestions and Requests / User access

It would be useful to restrict user or user group access in the Corporate Edition's security on a package and/or View level.

We are implementing a central repository in a large corporate environment and want to restrict access to certain views and packages.

General Board / Re: Numbering in reports
« on: September 24, 2012, 12:53:32 pm »
Thank you. I will try this.

The master report I have crafted have over 60 model documents, each with different formatting which is complicating the effort. Well, whatever the client wants.

I have a composite report (master report) made up of many model documents. Whne the report is generated the numbering does not flow from one model document report to the next consecutively. I have used list overrides. Any ideas?

Article:

Modelling the Data Warehouse using the UML

In the modern information age it is imperative for the organization to have its information at its fingertips. To meet this need for information, additions to systems are often developed to give consolidated management overviews of the operational information. Often, consolidated views require information from several operational systems and this leads to separate systems, often referred to as MIS (management information systems) or decision support systems. Sometimes the consolidated management information is represented in a specialized system often referred to as a data warehouse.  Read more here: http://xpdian.com/ModellingtheDataWarehouseusingtheUML.html

General Board / Re: Sybase Powerdesigner

Hi All,

After some testing I have the following to share with you:

If you import to Powerdesigner from EA, it accepts most diagram types. The only limitation is that the diagrams should be exported one at a time. Some of the relationships do not go through, because of a known error in Powerdesigner.

If you import to EA. Use XMI 1.0 when you export from Powerdesigner. It does not bring the diagrams through, although it creates all of the elements.

Will post more as more info becomes available.

Regards,

Francois Coetzee

Hi,

Has anyone ever had to exchange models with Powerdesigner. It complies with XMI 1.1 and UML DTD 1.3, but when importing the models into Powerdesigner, the relationships does not go through.

Please help.

General Board / Re: Zicom Mentor - Anybody buy it?
« on: February 24, 2003, 01:06:27 am »
Bought it - is a great help for referencing the UML quickly - The one are in which I would have liked to see more is on the example side. For  someone to use it as a good reference tool -examples will clear up understanding significantly.

General Board / Reverse engineering
« on: January 13, 2003, 08:29:12 pm »
I am busy reverse engineering a database model into UML.  It works fine,
however the relationships between the tables do not come thru.  Is there
a way to do this, or will only the tables come thru.

Thanks a lot.
