1.  Ha!  Let me try again.  I want to identify the root node for the selected package.
2.  Thank you.  I need to roll up my sleeves and get a handle on the #xxx# that are available in EA.  Totally stupid question on a Saturday morning - with not enough coffee in me.  If I am writing against the API in a MS Word macro are the #xxx# available to me?

Was wondering if someone would help me figure out how to write 2 queries:
1.  Identifying Model that Project Browser selected package is in?
2.  Identifying all the elements of a particular object type and stereotype within that selected model.

Am I just missing something that is easy?  Would appreciate your thoughts.

Yes, GUID is the unique identifier, but not real user friendly when producing reports or for reference purposes during facilitated sessions.  

Thanks for confirming.  Since EA has so much functionality - I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

I will have to dust off my API code skills.

How have others managed providing Unique Requirements IDs across projects?

Looking to implement - many projects in one database.  I have never liked the auto-numbering within EA - would appreciate thoughts on this one?

Actually, I want the option to search the project for a string and replace it with another string.

Find String: Old Company Name
Replace String: New Company Name

I would love for it to work like it does in word allowing you to view where it found the string and then opt for the replacement or not.

I also just wanted to do a reality check that it really isn't there.

General Board / Upgrade 7.5 to 8.0 Impact

I want to upgrade my company from EA 7.5 to EA 8.0 and was wondering if folks would share their experiences.   Couple of things about our environment:
1.  Version Control:  We are working in a distributed environment using local models.  Local EAP files - one version controlled repository.
2.  EA version is customized using an MDG Technologies XML file.
3.  Extensive use of the EA API for Word reporting.

From my initial testing it appears that all of my customization comes over flawlessly and that the Word Templates written against the API also have no issues.  This all seems too good to be true.  

Would appreciate your thoughts and recommended strategies.

Is there a way to have the import reference data shared file point a URL instead of a directory referenced file?

General Board / Audit View and Oracle Database

Please share your thoughts on using the Audit View.  The project is deployed on an Oracle database.  I had heard rumblings of the audit view blowing out the size of the Oracle database because it was recording everything.  Looking to explore my options.

General Board / Ordering Requirements for an Object

Hi,
On an Object's(i.e. an Activity) Require tab, I would like to list my external requirements in a way other than alphabetically.  It currently defaults to an alphabetic presentation.  I also want to reuse these requirements on more than one activity.  Since the order may be different depending on the activity I do not want to number them.

Any ideas on how I might manage this?  It would be great if order was kept and we could move the requirements up and down in the list (using the hand pointers which are everywhere else in EA).  Any ideas for a work around?

General Board / SQL Server vs Oracle 10g

Trying to determine which DBMS to work with: SQL Server
(have both 2000 and 2008) or Oracle 10g.  Would welcome your recommendations.  
Anyone know what the original EA Deployment DBMS was?
