General Board / RTF - Reporting where each element is
« on: June 05, 2010, 06:25:38 am »
Hi,

A question was raised by my colleague that completely stumped me:
"Can the Sparx rtf generator list an element and then name all the diagrams it is located on?"

Our proposed final layout

Name     Description     Found in...

Using tagged values this can be done, but it can be a lot of work.

Is there a function in the RTF Template Generator that I'm missing?

Thanks!

General Board / Re: Multiple instances of the same element

I was only using the Activity as an example of what I would like to accomplish. Let me try again.
In our distributed use case diagram, we have a use case "Create Account" being used by different services.  What I would like to see, if possible, is three Use Case Ellipses Named "Create Account" on the same diagram without having to create three use case elements named "Create Account"

For the sake of reporting, we are not writing scripts or attaching tagged values to these.

General Board / Multiple instances of the same element
« on: June 02, 2010, 05:46:16 am »
Hi there,

I am wondering if there is any way to have more than one instance of the same element on one diagram.  For example:
- the same activity occurring more than once in a process
- the same use case being invoked by multiple services on a distributed use case diagram.

I get the message "Currently only one instance is allowed...".

Wondering if there's a setting I'm missing?

Thanks!

General Board / Alternative Image use
« on: May 19, 2010, 05:58:19 am »
Hi There,

I would like to know if there is any way to apply an alternate image to an element without moving the text to the bottom.  I am doing a drilldown where I represent a Service as an ellipse (for a SIAM), a rectangle (for a Program Logic Model) and a Package (for housing Use Cases).

If I can keep the Service element as one element with many "faces" then I don't have to worry about referential integrity - which would become an issue if I created more than one element.

Thanks very much in advance!
