Suggestions and Requests / Support for Word fields in the RTF documents
« on: October 04, 2010, 06:59:44 pm »
Hi,

I have a master document in Word, in which the RTF documents generated from EA are included. Now I need the ability to still properly number the diagrams across the master document. Therefore I suggest that at least the {SEQ Figure} field is added in the RTF editor. There might be other useful fields as well (e.g. {SEQ Table}). Maybe you could just add a "Insert Word field" menu entry, which would place whatever a user enters as word field in the RTF document. You shouldn't even deal with validating proper input there, but leave it up to the users to enter the field names and parameters correctly. This way it would be much easier to implement.

Regards,
Michael

General Board / Re: Access rights

Hi, how exactly can you manage access rights for particular packages using EA's user security? I thought, you can only do that for the whole model. Thanks!

General Board / Access rights

Hi,

in a shared model stored in a SQL database is it possible to set access rights to certain packages as read-only (so that certain users can't check them out and change them) or even no-access (so that they can't even look at them)? Any help on how that could be achieved would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

General Board / Re: Problem with RTF Bookmarks in EA11

According to Sparx (information from October 3rd), the developers fixed it already, but it needs to be merged into the build. So I would assume that it will be in the next build.

Yes, I did.

Update: Issue ID is 14088825 and has been confirmed as bug.

I have the exact same problem. The bookmarks are still in the document. However, in older version the bookmark covered the whole section (e.g. a diagram), while now it is just placed at the beginning of the section. Imagine it like this (the brackets mark the beginning and end of the bookmark):
Old: [diagram]
New: []diagram
So Word will not insert anything, because the bookmarked text is basically empty. This is clearly a bug in version 11!

General Board / Word sequence number in RTF
« on: October 02, 2010, 01:22:31 am »
Hi, I would like to use the numbering of my Word master document for the diagrams. Using copy and paste, I can actually place a {SEQ Figure} field into the RTF template, but in the generated RTF it will be replaced by {MERGEFIELD SEQ Figure}. How can I insert the correct Field used by Word for numbering? In my Word master document I have several other figures and would like to have them and the ones generated by EA in a list of figures.

Thanks,
Michael

Bugs and Issues / Re: RTF Documentation not working properly in 930!
« on: March 08, 2012, 02:42:36 am »
I just found the problem. It has to do with the new Workspaces. I had selected Systems Engineering as command set and there Documentation and some others were deselected for whatever reason.

No, I just updated from 92x to 930. No further changes.

Bugs and Issues / RTF Documentation not working properly in 930!

In version 930, the F8 key is not assigned to the RTF documentation anymore. Also, in the context menu of a diagram in the project browser, the entry "Copy RTF bookmark" is missing, which I urgently need!

Just another observation I made: It works fine, if I generate a report for a model document. I does not work, if I generate it for the master document. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bugs and Issues / RTF Bookmarks

Hi, when I generate an RTF document using the standard templates for diagrams, the RTF bookmarks don't reference the whole diagram section, but only the cursor position at the beginning of that block. If I now try to add that diagram to a document using "import file" and selecting a range (as described in EA's help file), nothing is imported, because the bookmarked text is empty. Am I doing something wrong here or is that a bug? BTW, the same seems to be true for all the bookmarks generated in the RTF document.

Thanks,
Michael

Well, EA entered the quotes into that field. But I now removed them and suddenly it works (even so EA added them again when I hit enter).

Bugs and Issues / Diagram Filter not working...
« on: April 23, 2010, 11:19:47 pm »
Hi, I created a diagram filter based on the phase of the element. I actually want to filter all elements that have one of several phases. So I set it up as "One of..." and in the value field I entered 'value1','value2'. However it only filters by the fist value in the list. Is this a bug or am I doing s.th. wrong. Version is 8.0.855.

Thanks,
Michael
