Suggestions and Requests / GUID management + Moving to a single repository

Hello,

We are moving different projects into a single repository (under Oracle).
We encounter some issues besause of the GUID. Indeed, most of the .eap files have been created with the same .eap template. Thus some elements/connectors have the same GUID but with differtent contents (notes, properties, ...).

First question : Is it possible to reset the GUID of all or some element/connector/... of a .eap project file ?

Second question : Is it a procedure to migrate several project into a single repository and to avoid GUID collisions ?

What about RTF templates, images, ... the problems seems to be similar ?

Suggestions and Requests / Reporting on Element Discussion

Hi,

There is a very interresting new functionnality in EA 11 : it's element discussions.
Unfortunately, I can't see if it is possible to generate documentation  on it. When I create a document template, I don't see either a section neither a field related to this new concept.  
Am I wrong ? Or is it another way to generate report on element discussions ?

Suggestions and Requests / Inherited association

I have a class A which is a specialization of a class B. It's possible to display inherited attributes end operations (via 'Feature and Compartment Visibility') but how to display the inherited associations ?
Imagine there is an association called X between class B and class C. I just want to display the association X between class A and class C. Is it possible ?

Thanks for your help. But I have still a problem.

It is not possible to set the stereotype of a connector (or link type) from within the matrix relationship window. Indeed, the new stereotype does not appear in the "Link Type"list. So, one has to set it manually on all managed dependencies... Not very nice.
Is it possible with the profiles either to modify the metaclass (definition of a shape script) either to make connector stereotypes to appear in the list of "type link".

Hi,

Is it possible to display connectors'tags on a diagram ?
It is for possible for the elements'tags through the diagram properties but I don'y see this possibility for the connector.
This would be interresting to show on diagram the overlay values set with matrix.

Thanks in advance for solution or suggestions if it is not possible.

Suggestions and Requests / Customising stereotypes + Images

Hi,
I'm trying to create a graphical stereotype without succes (I succeed to change the appearance or applying an image (.emf file) but not to overide the appearance whith shape script.
Is somebody have a small document explaining briefly how to do with an example.
In fact I would like to extend Win32 classes with new standard one we are using internaly.

An other small problem we've got : as we are supporting "old" systems, we would like to represent some classes or instances representing screens with an image and to use them in different diagram without having to associate the class (or instance) with the appropriate image each time. Is it possible to use a property such as the classes will always be replaced by the chosen image ? It is such a stereotype, I know, but as it is for a single class, stereotype is not the appropriate way to do, I guess.

Is it possible to export Relationship Matrix Profiles ? I would share them between different project like I do with the RTF templates but I don't find how to do.
I 've tried with "Export Reference Data" "Matrix profiles" but the exported file is empty.
Is somebody can help me a little...

During import I've got several time a strange error (more than 100 times) :
    Error:
    Code = 0x0
    Source = Line : 0; char : 0
    Error Description = (null)


It's always during the import step : "Add classifier : <Use case name>".

What's the meaning of such error ?
And what incidence on the result could it causes ? Lost of informations, corruptions, ...  

Is somebody knows sth about that ?

• Using Tools/Data Management/Project Transfer will first erase the content of the repository... and I want to add the content of the .eap file to the existing repository.
• Using Export/Import does not includes images (as I mentionned it in my first post).

So... another idea

General Board / Upload .eap file into a Oracle repository

Hi,

Somebody could tell me how to proceed to upload all data from a .eap file into an existing repository ?

I've tried with "Copy package to clipboard" in the .eap file and "Paste package from clipboard" in the rpository. It works well with small or medium .eap files. But with some quite big I've got an ODBC error.

I've tried with export to XML but it does not include images used as appearance of objects.

So I need other suggestions ...

Bugs and Issues / Removing link between 2 locked element

Hi,

There is 2 elements (more precisely, 2 classes) in a package that is locked by a group called for example "Grp1". So diagrams and elements of this package are also lockes by the group.

I'm part of a second group called "Grp2" and I'm editing a diagram in a package lock by my group. I've dropped on my diagram the 2 elements and I can see the association between them.

There is then 2 strange behaviors :

1-  When I try to add an association or any kind of link between the 2 elements, I've got the message : "Both the Start and the End element are locked. You cannot create a link at this time."
But when I try to delete the association between the 2 elements, it works. This should not be possible !!!  :-/

2- When I try to link one of my element to one of the locked element (with dependency for exemple) it works. OK. but the reverse works also ??!!  :-/ :-/

Is there a problem with the management of group locking ?

I'm using EA 11.1.1112 and an Oracle repository.

Bugs and Issues / Bug by using bullet points in notes - Regression !

Hello,

I've found a regression in v11 and v11.1 of EA.

When you put bullet points in a note of a package for example (anyway, it's true with any kind of element) and try to generate a document (whatever the format) using any template (for example, the system template "model report"), EA is immediately going to stop and you receive a windows message saying that "EA has encountered a probleme end has to close..."
I've opened with EA 10 the .eap file created under EA 11 and the generation of document goes well without any problem...

Could you confirm that's a bug and tell me when it will be corrected. Indeed, we won't migrate to the new version if this is not corrected : we have too many existing elements with bullet points in notes and we are using very often document generation for users validation for example.

By the way a suggestion/improvement about bullet points and numbering : It would be great to be able to nest them on more than one level.
