Importing RTF into a word master document
« on: April 12, 2008, 02:45:15 am »
Hi all,

I've created master document (office word 2007) and tried to import EA generated RTF document as described in the help file (inserting the file by using "text from file" option in the Insert tab).
I'm experiencing problems with the images layout and text wrapping. The diagram images are "floating" behind the text and I have to manually change each image layout and position.

What should I do to fix this problem in order to make the document generation process fully automated? Is there any other way to link the RTF document into the master word document without changing the images layout?

TIA
motty

Never experienced this myself.

Did you import into Word as reference or standard ?
Can this also be seen in the RTF document ?

In the RTF document the images looks fine.
I'm importing it to a word document as standard (not reference) using the "Insert Text" command. It is office word 2007 and I couldn't find another way to do this.

What happens if you just copy the diagram image into the word document  (Element->copy diagram image) ?

Same thing, the image in the word document is floating behind the text and partially hidden

Hi,
Maybe some grouping commands are needed. Move image in front the text...

I meant those commands inside word, which you have to do manually..This is probably not the solution you are looking for...

You are right, I'm looking for a full automation of the document generated (and re-generated) process.

And talking about document generation, does anyone know about more templates for EA document generation (e.g. RUP/MSF style templates, MIL STD. etc') ?
