Reverse Engineering Access 2003 database
« on: May 12, 2009, 08:16:41 pm »
Hi,

I'm having consistent problem RE any Access 2003 database.  My ODBC drivers are up to date (using Win XP SP3), and have the latest MS service packs.

When clicking import button on the EA Import DB Schema from ODBC source, I get a listing of all the tables in the database.  No matter whether I select one or all the tables, I get a message saying 'Unrecognized database format '...'

Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Set EA to use JET 4.

Tools | Options | Use JET 4.0 - requires restart

Isn't it about time this was the default?

I asked about this a version ago, since the 2003 format will its core support period this year and the 97 format is no longer supported at all. I also suggested that the EABase project in Jet 4 format be the default distribution, or at least included in the core EA product.

The response was that this was certainly a good idea, and that they might (not would) consider it for future (unspecified) releases.
No, you can't have it!
