copy and paste
« on: August 24, 2004, 10:11:49 am »
After i've done a fair amount of work sizing and placing UML objects...

then i want to copy and paste (to keep the shapes and sizes consistent) so i can create new, similar objects.

EA gives me a "the diagram already contains....".

this is painful.  doesnt help me get my job done very fast.

why wouldnt it just rename the object during a paste, sorta like windows when you do a file system copy and paste...

thanks.

G'day Steve,

EA doesn't like more than one instance of any specific element on a diagram.

If you want a copy of some element pasted into your diagram as a new element, then copy said element and use the "Paste Object(s) as New" menu item in the context menu of the diagram, or the "Paste Element(s)" ... "as New" from the Edit menu.

If you want a large number of copies of some element, then keep selecting an increasing number of elements as you paste 'em.
Cheers and best regards.
