Undo delete
« on: September 06, 2011, 02:52:31 pm »
We've been running with EA Enterprise just a few weeks now. One of our developers put in a massive effort into some program requirements but then unfortunately deleted the parent package by mistake. We were gob-smacked to discover that this is something that cannot be undone. Was there any way we could have retrieved the package?

Possible options to research:
  • Version Control
  • Backup the database (or eap file if you not using a dbms)
  • Baselining a package
  • Using Package control and xmi backups
There is unfortunately no implicit undo for package/element deletes.  Any of the options above would have allowed a restore of the package if it had been explicitly invoked prior to the delete.

Having been caught out by this (but fortunately not too seriously) I'd really like to see this undo feature, for at a minimum, immediately after you have done the action.  [smiley=laugh.gif]
