Import BPMN 2.0 Import
« on: December 02, 2013, 08:47:07 pm »
Hi,

is the ability to import a BPMN 2.0 Process designed in another tool a planned feature? If yes, for which release?

Currently this is not possible.

TIA,
Andrre

It is a current feature. You need the correct edition of Sparx and the other tool needs to export BPMN2.0 XML as per the omg spec.

I'm not sure of the top of my head which editions support BPMN; we are using the business and software engineering edition and it does.

Regards,

Jon.

Hmm, I'm using the current trial of EA 10 setting it to business and software engineering edition.

I invoke Project|Model Import/Export|Import from XMI.

In that dialog I select my bpmn20.xml and hit Import. It cancels with "Unknown XMI Exporter or Version".

I am not completely sure if my bmpn20.xml file confirms to the spec, but it opens in the Eclipse Activiti Designer and Yaoqiang BPMN Editor.

Any idea?

TIA,
Andre

And if that doesn't work, send your XML to Sparx support and they will be able to investigate further.

I'm also very interested to learn if this is possible. "BPMN 2.0 XML" is listed under "Other XML Formats" in an export, however it does not appear to be an option for import.

Sparx Gurus, can you please advise whether there is a workaround for this, or a 3rd party add-in that will do the job if it is not a core part of the product?

I'm on v10.0.1004 - Corporate Edition.

Kind thanks.
