Copy found classes to the current diagram
« on: July 14, 2005, 05:25:35 am »
I wonder whether this is possible in a way I am not aware of, or whether there are easier workarounds.
Still, I'd like to see this as a new feature[tte]:

- Ctrl-F - search for classes (for example)
- Hit new button (possibly with shortcut) to copy the SELECTED classes
to the current diagram (ask whether links, copies or instances - same as if dragged from proj.view)

Right now, the workaround I have is very complicated if
many classes are selected:
- one by one locate them in project view
- then drag-drop them to the diagram

Thanks for any comments

Richard

I have the feeling that EA does not behave very OO-like in many places. It should be easy to drag the search result directly to a diagram (without any button-wizardry) just like you do when dragging an element from the project view.

Clean-ness and uniformity or the EA design are very welcome.
On my side of the world, however, those are second after the usability. I need my team members to be able use the tool efficiently. That also includes keyboard navigation (hence the button idea, but Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V or something else might be fine as well).

Our experience with EA has been amazing - both the main usability, speed (except older/fixed CVS issues) and development (patches and fixes). I hope this issue gets resolved soon.
