856 Install
« on: May 27, 2010, 02:59:55 pm »
I installed 856(v8.0) over 850 (v7.5) on WXP SP3.
As part of the install in automatically uninstalled (with my permission) 7.5.

Unfortunately what it did do was also uninstall my customised
  • normal.rtl
  • EABase.eap (Jet4)
I believe that it is unacceptable to delete customised user data such as these files on an upgrade.

This raises a larger issue for which there may be an answer, but I can't locate it.

There should be a means to specify a shared (network) location for normal.rtf and EABase.eap.
Wherever they are they should no longer be installed into the program files directory on Windows.

Hello everyone,

The next build of EA will copy and load Normal.rtf from your APPDATA directory, so it should be unaffected by the installer. I'd have to investigate what happens with EABase though.
Best Regards,

Michael
