Problem with EA 9.21, TFS and synchronize items

Hello

I'm using VS 2010 Ulitmate, TFS 2010 on a 32 bit Windows 7. The version of EA is 9.21.

I can get the link and itegrations to work, and also version control works for both the vs c# project and the EA model project put into the same team project.

BUT, VS crash when i try to syncronize TFS work items as i says in the manual. Ne error message or anything, VS just dies.

Please give some info what i could have done wrong...:-)

And thanx for the fast response from the support, I've filed a "bug"(if it is one and hopefully not just me missing something)  and got a tracking number so i will wait for the answer.

Tried with new clean machine, all clean install. But no success.

I've been following the manual, the only difference i can see in the manual is that the documentation and website talks about 2005/2008, execpt the market webpage that says it works with 2010.  An other thing is that i'm running all on the same machine; vs2010, tfs2010 and ea/mdg on a win7 32bit. (So the sharepoint is not used).

But everything els works as a charm, the link, the version control etc so could the difference be somewhere deep in the ea connection script/code??

Hello again

They asked us to use some tools when the crash happens and we have sent them the log.  

Hopefully they are on to something. We have verified the problem on 3 physical machines and 3 virtual machines but of course we could do something really wrong which could explain everything:-)

Could somebody please verify if they have got tfs2010/vs2010 integration to work WITHOUT having an old tfs2008 installed?

Anyway, otherwise this is a great tool and works ok, but we need the tfs2010/vs2010 integration.

Just wanted you to know that I have exactly the same problem (I think) running VS/TFS 2010 SP1 and EA 9.2.921 on Windows 7 64 bit. VS crashes when I select any option from the Team Foundation Server menu in EA project explorer.
I am extremely interested in any resolution to this problem.

We where starting to wonder if we missed something, so good to know that somebody else has been able to replicate the problem ( smaller risk the many have done the same misstake:-).

We have also tested it with a clean client server configuration with the same problem. Server running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and client Windows 7 x64 fully updated. On the server we have SQL Server 2008 R2, Sharepoint server 2010, TFS 2010 and Project Server 2010, all well and running together. On the client we have VS 2010 Ultimate, EA 9.2 Ultimate, all working smoothly, *except* this our problem, as for You also, VS crash when trying to use the tfs specific items from the menu.

Otherwise the EA does very well what it should for us so we will wait. I will send a new question about the bug status today.

Too bad. You would think that it should be kind of important for Sparx to fix such an obvious bug.
I tried this with Visual Studio 2008 as well (same version of EA and MDG Integration though) with the same depressing result.

Aha, didn't know that it was an old bug, we belived that it was only related to TFS2010. Hopefully they will fix it soon, it's a showstopper for our organisation.

I have sent them a logfil where it's 'rather' clear what the problems is. (Well ofcourse i could be totally wrong and it's a hard error) It seem to be a assembly reference for non-existing tfs 2008 version. ( They seems to have a dynamic loader which correctly find's the right assembly, BUT then uses the 'hard' wrong reference, with  a crash as result??? Anyway it's just my humble quess:-)

Havent heard anything for some time, would be nice to get some feedback, instructions or even an virtualization zip to try out. We have given instructions on how to replicate the problem, we have done it for both 32/64 bit Win7 and Windows Server 2008R2, all with the same crash as a result.

The new version 9.3 didnt solve the problem. I've got the answer so far that they still can't replicate the problem, but they have a lead för the new MDG version. (We have replicated the problem on virtual and real machines, single and server/client configurations. Everytime the same crash if clean install.) The problem was/is a showstopper so we had to find/buy an other solution for the problem at hand.

Otherwise we still consider this one of the best UML tools, so *yes* we are still waiting and hopefully in a short time we can swith to this tool.

Martin, have you tested with 9.3?

Just because there appears to be some confusion. This issue will not be fixed by an update to EA. It requires an update to Visual Studio Integration.
