Object Labels in HTML Reports
« on: July 22, 2002, 06:20:23 am »
I just want to say you have been doing a great job with EA.  We've been using it to document analysis and design on this project for about a year now and love it.

Recently I've been using metafile graphics in activity stereotypes to produce HTML based user documentation from the model.  The only problem I'm having is that when I generate the HTML report the object labels in my activity diagrams truncate to 2 lines (some of the labels are 3-4 lines due to the size of the graphic).  Resizing the graphic isn't a solution since it would badly distort the image.  I've also tried changing the font color on the object to white and using a seperate label but this doesn't work with the metafile graphics.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.  Keep up the good work.

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for getting back so quickly.  In going to get the examples, I found the cause of my problem and a quick fix.

In the diagrams I had trouble with the objects with the multi-line names were at the bottom of the diagram. When the diagram is saved as an image file, the lower boundry of the lowest object on the diagram determines the bottom of the image.  If the part of the label of the object extends below the object's lower boundry, that part is not included in the image.

My fix is to make sure that the label of bottom-most object on a diagram is completly within the object's boundries.  At worst, I can put an 'invisable' object in the diagram to define the bottom of the diagram image.
