UML Patterns downloadable?
« on: July 02, 2003, 02:38:37 am »

I'm currently investating the option to add UML Design patterns to Enterprise Architect. This looks very promising to me, except that there are no patterns installed on my system.

I wonder if there are some patterns downloadable from the Internet. I think Enterprise Architect provides a great means for exchanging patterns by storing them as XML files and it would be very usefull to have an online repository of those XML files so they can be used by other users as well.

Does anyone have XML files for example of the GOF patterns that he/she wants to share?

I started to make some GoF patterns on EA,
but i have only made 3 or 4 of them yet...

I dont know well how to use them later
because there is options to ask for the name of some of the class, but i dont know if there is an option to use a class you already have on the model when you include the pattern, etc.

Here's a possibility, but I don't know how well it would work.

Rather than manually re-create all the patterns from scratch, find a downloadable set from somehwere, and use the reverse engineering tools in EA to re-generate the class interfaces...

(I leave it to you to find your own language of choice...)

(hmmm, PS.  If anyone wants to buy the domain; extremepatterns.com - my wife and I own it - it never quite evolved into the "software development pattern repository" I envisioned, and my wife didn't want to use it for her "computerized sewing/embroidery machine" patterns - I'm open to offers....)
