i am thinking of using your system for my business.
i run a small printing company of 5 staff and wondered if this system might not be too big for me.should i just stick with a basic windows package ? :-/

Cockfrot, are you diagramming your business process, or perhaps your information systems?

I don't think this is the case, but if you're trying to get hold of a general diagramming package, EA wouldn't probably be a good choice.

However, if the other cases are true, then let's talk,
because I think it's pretty hard to beat for those purposes; particularly at this price point.

i need to keep track of all jobs in/out,stock etc.i want a package that will tie all these things up.
im afraid i will be leaving this to my technical staff,i just thought i would put a toe in the water,so to speak.

Actually I did a similar job with RR some time ago also for a small company. This worked quite well despite the poor UI that RR has. I modeled the companies business (actors, use cases, business environment). This made clear a lot of things (what do we have, who is doing what, etc.). Actually we also used the tool to do our job (modelling PHP web application), so tasks could also be found. Usind EA you could simply take the task list to keep track of ongoing work. If you have a soft spot for UML you will like EA. If you don't know UML it might be too hard for you to get the kick off...

Even if UML and many of EA's features are overkill for your needs, consider EA as a simple drawing tool anyway.

While comparing EA to other drawing tools, compare price, ease of use, and maybe take into consideration some features in EA that might be useful, like "traceability", relationship matrix, document generation (RTF, HTML), glossary, tasks, issues, changes, etc. etc. ...
