EA crashes when editing Interface
« on: February 22, 2005, 01:35:36 am »
I am using build 744 of EA pro and I have a reoccuring crash.  I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem.

This happens when I am added operations to attributes.  First, why do I have to add operations from the project tree using the context menu rather than having a tab in the dialog that pops up when you double click on the Interface item in a class diagram?

Anyway, in my current project if I edit an operation on an interface, exit the edit dialog (OK) then select another Interface in the project tree and then click on the "Operations..." item, EA exits to windows without possiblity to save.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Dennis,

I haven't been able to replicate your problem.  ( Using 744 and 748 )

I was wondering exactly how you are opening up the operations dialog (and if it's a way that I can't remember)

I can open the operations dialog for an interface up with:
  • Operations... in the context menu of the tree.  (Can select the interface first or just right click on it)
  • Clicking the Element Operations button on the properties view.
  • Pressing 10
  • Selecting Element | Operations... from the main menu.
  • Clicking the Operations button on the Current Element toolbar.
  • Double clicking on an operation in the class diagram (need to have the interface selected first)
  • Selecting Element Features | Operations... from the context menu when clicking on the interface on the diagram.
  • Right clicking on an operation in the Project View and selecting Operation Properties...
  • Pressing enter when an operation is selected in the project view.
  • Double clicking an operation in the project view (If double click on browser is set to "Shows properties" (Tools | Options | General)
A lot of those don't fit your description of the problem, but once I started listing them I had to put all the ones I could remember.

It would probably be a good idea to further clarify what steps (exactly) you are taking.  An even better idea though would be to see if the latest build solves your problems.  There have been some changes to that area that could fix the problem.

Oh, my guess for why the detail tab including the button for the operations dialog is left out.  Something to do with the option to display interfaces using the "circle notation".

I think I will get the latest version and see if this fixes the problem.  If not I will try to quantify exactly what steps are need (on my machine) to cause the error.

thanks.

I have the same problem..

It occurs when you create an class diagram. Add an class & interface... show that the class is realizing the interface. Add operations to the interface and in some cases EA will then crash.
