Error writing key file
« on: April 10, 2005, 09:13:30 pm »
Hi. I am a new user of EA. I am trying to register my version of EA. When I add the license key into the "Enter Registration Key" box and click on "Register", I get the following error: "Error writing key file. Please try again. If the problem persists contact SparxSystems."

I am only copy-pasting the license key, so it cannot be a typing mistake.

Any idea what the problem could be? Please help!
Thanks.

Did you include the curly braces "{"?
"It is not so expressed, but what of that?
'Twere good you do so much for charity."

Oh I forgot, we aren't doing him are we.

I would do as the message suggests: contact Sparx directly. This topic has not occured in this form in the past year. If you're using SQL server I suspect some rights problem. But see my intro...

My guess from the error message is that the problem is more of a file error than a key error.  Open up your EA directory and look for the key.dat file.

If it's not there you'll need to reinstall EA.

If it is there make sure that it isn't read only.
