DAO Library
« on: July 07, 2005, 02:46:26 am »
Hi all,  could somebody pls assist.  I have re-installed the software several times but still gets the following error:  "Fatal error initializing DAO library"

Also registered the dao350.dll manually, but still no luck!

Thanks
Hanlie

When does the message appear? Can you start EA? If yes: look at  Tools/Options and uncheck Jet 4.

Hi,  problem solved as recommended by Sparx Systems support.  Below the solution.

"Hello Hannelize,

Is there also a dao360.dll file in that folder (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO)?

If so, try registering that dll.

If that does not work, try re-installing Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)...

Okay, I just today had a message come up on EA about the DAO library.  To my knowledge there is nothing that has changed since the last time I ran EA, but there could have been some update to the DAO package that was part of a MS patch.  BTW, on XP SP2, the latest version of MDAC is 2.8 and when I attempted to install the latest I was informed that it was already on my machine.  I also ran a version checker and this seemed to be fine.  I'm not sure if re-registering the dll that was mentioned will do anything; it did nothing on my system so far. ???  :'(

So, any other ideas besides re-installing EA?

Paul

I just remembered that I had the trial version still on my system and a couple of weeks ago I uninstalled that.  I just did a "repair" of the installation and the error message went away.
