export stereotypes with appearance
« on: April 13, 2006, 12:42:47 am »
Hello gurus!

EA allows export and import of stereotypes from one model to another. However, the stereotype appearance (e.g. color) is not imported/exported? I'm using the Tools->Import/Export Reference Data function.

Thanks,

M.

Addendum: The appearance is imported (Settings->UML->Stereotypes), however it is not applied somehow  ???

Bookie,

I have recently applied customized colour settings (only) to several new stereotypes (versus changing the colour of those that were already there, which I simply have not tried).

I did this in two models (one in an EAP file, one in a repository) and somehow managed to set the colours differently. Flipping between the models was a bit jarring.

This gave me the occasion to export from one model and import into the other. Worked like a charm, and suddenly (instantly) the colours were the same in both.

So, I don't know about whether this would work for pre-existing stereotypes, or for settings outside of colour, but I got the colour part working the first time. Check to make sure you did just what you think you did - just to make sure it was not 'finger trouble. It should work.
