Sequence Diagram - replacing lifeline classes

I'd like to be able to replace a lifeline on a sequence diagram with a different class.  I want to cut and paste a bunch of similar sequence diagrams but replace some of the lifeliine classes to represent slightly different behavior.  Right now I am doing this by dragging the new lifeline next to the old one, and reconnecting all the messages, which is pretty time-consuming.

Is there any way to do this in EA?

If the lifelines are instances, just select and press Ctrl+L to change the classifier. If the lifelines aren't instances, perhaps they should be?
