Lost password access to model
« on: January 15, 2007, 05:26:46 pm »
I switched to the desktop edition using a model that had security enabled.  When I try to go back using a corporate model, the users were removed and I can no longer access the model.  Is there a way to get back in?

Hi CCrabb,

I don't understand how you lost all of your user definitions...

Project Security is not available in the Desktop Edition, but using the Desktop Edition to open a model that was built in the Corporate Edition will not remove existing records from the database tables.

I tried a number of different scenarios, switching between Corporate, Desktop and back again.  Each time I switched back to Corporate, the Security functions resumed working as they had been.

No matter how you got there, if all other users have been removed, the "admin" user should still be available.  If EA detects that there is no "admin" user, it creates a new one.

Log in as "admin".  Try your previous "admin" password, then try "password" if the user has been recreated.

Switch to "Require user lock to edit" and back again (or vice-versa).  On one of these mode switches, you will be prompted to remove all existing locks.

Answer "Yes" and you should be able to access your model once more.

I hope that helps.

Best Regards,
Howard.
