Unable to obtain table information
« on: October 04, 2007, 06:45:12 am »
I want to import tables from my mysql databas with a ODBC connector. The connector is ok, have tested it but when I try to import it I get the error message:
"Unable to obtain table information".

I Use the Project-Database engineering- import databs schema from odbc. And it is when I add the odbc the popup Unable to obtain table information hits me.

Try leaving the "schema" field empty.

I don´t wirte in any schema.
The wierd thing is that if I connect the a mysql database on a linux server with vpn it works, but if i try to connect to my localhost mysql or a mysql on another computer on our intern network it fails.
I got the 6.5 version if it helps and 5.0.45 on my mysql

1) Is EA installed on Linux or Windows?
2) How did you configure ODBC (which checkboxes have you checked)? do you have a DSN for each DB all configure the same?
3) Are the privileges the same for all of them?

Try to connect with a MySQL client (there are free ones) and see if it a problem only with EA.

1) EA is installed on Windows?
2) On the linux mysql version I have checked the
"Don´t optimize column width", "Return Matching Rows".
On the windows XP database I dont have any box checked.
I have tested to check the same boxes as in linux but no result.

3) If you mean the user privileges so, yes.

I have of course tested the odbc connection when I create it. push the "Test" button.  I use the odbc 3.51.15 connector.

It works perfekt with the "your" client and I have also tested with navicat 8.0 .
So it looks like the problem is in EA.

I received the "Unable To Obtain Table Information" error when trying to reverse engineer an Oracle database from Windows XP 64 bit.  It worked from Windows XP 32 bit.

First, check that you are using build 818, which was released after this bug was reported.

If the problem persists in build 818, please open a bug report. Since this flaw has not (apparently) been resolved, this may give Sparx more information.

You can get to the correct page by clicking the Report a Bug link below the Support link at the bottom of any forum page.

Please include the URL of this thread when you make your bug report, so Sparx can tie the two reports together.
No, you can't have it!
