How to link an EA diagram from an external document?
« on: April 22, 2008, 09:34:25 pm »
I'm looking for a way to open EA diagrams ready for editing starting from e.g. a hyperlink within an external document (a spreadsheet containing a list of diagram names/links). The idea behind is to edit these diagrams just a click away from this list, without further searching the EA project tree. Currently I save diagrams as image files and link them from my external document. But these are read-only, to edit them I have to open the project file, to search the project tree and to save them after editing.

It is possible to open a project file when calling EA with its name as command line parameter. But I didn't find any note how to pass a diagram view "path" at the command line. Does anybody know how to do this? Or is there any similar way to achieve the above-mentioned goal?

Thanks in advance.

I would look at the shortcut files EA creates.  Except that you will need a file for each diagram you were wanting to link to directly this would work.
