Spacing in RTF report
« on: May 29, 2008, 01:38:13 am »
I have an issue with spacing in the RTF reports. I completed a master document, which is made up of 8 model documents, each model document having a different RTF template while the master document also has a different RTF template. I made sure that all the extra spaces were removed from each RTF template and the master template.

The problem is that when I run the RTF report on the master document, a page break is inserted after each section, which coincides with each model document.  I assume that there's a default setting in EA that inserts page breaks after each model document or section.  Whhere is that setting and how do I change it?

Does anyone have an answer to this question please?  I have exactly the same problem.  It seems there is an option to turn this setting on and off in the old RTF Generator -

- but not in the new generator.

How do we turn this off please????

THANKS!   :)

I am not certain, so I offer this merely as a suggestion.

I would guess that the report is generated with a page break between the model documents because you can't apply two templates to one page. The Master document provides a 'background' structure to the document and pulls in each master document as a separate cell within that structure.

The old generator allowed you to turn page breaks on and off because it generated a document with one template only. The new generator by default flows on unless you insert any of a number of paragraph format commands that control where a page break occurs.

I'll see if any of my colleagues can make a more definitive statement.

You're right Roy that it does make logical sense that each new Model Document should start on a new page in the Master Document, and this is in fact what I want to have happen.

The only problem though, is that I am getting an entirely blank page between the last page of one Model Doc, and the first page of the next.

Now that I think about it, I think the problem is actually within the Model Document templates.  In each Model Doc template, I have inserted a Page Break after each Child Element.  This works great, except that it inserts a final Page Break after the last Child Element, which I think then causes the blank page at the end of the Model Doc report.

So I think my real question is, is there a way to tell the Model Document not to insert a Page Break after the final Child Element in the report?

Thanks for your help.

What comes before the Child Element descriptions, or before that? I wonder if you could put the page break before each child element description? This might just push the problem to the start of the document rather than at the end, but if you have any preamble or lead in pages that can absorb the extra page break, maybe that might help?

An example of one of the Model Document RTF Templates I am using can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mophjhbvmnb

Would you mind taking a look please Roy?

Thanks.

I didn't mind having a look, but I can't do much with the file. It seems to have lost something in translation.

It is probably time to turn this over to Sparx Support for the real experts to have a look. I'm not sure that this qualifies as a bug, but use the bug report on the Registered Users site to send it in.
