Problem with Project Transfer
« on: July 23, 2008, 07:17:12 pm »
Hi
I am trying to transfer a project between a .EAP file to a SQL 2005 db. I am using version 7.1.828.

I have created a new db and run the db script
I open EA and select Tools -> Data Management - Project Transfer
I select the radio .EAP to DBMS
I select the target file as my existing project file .EAP
I select database using OLE DB provider for SQL Server - select server , db and test connection is successful
I select a log file ( new file)
Click transfer
Error message appears alomost immediately - "Enterprise Architect has expierienced a network problem and will close down"
EA closes down

Any ideas on how to fix this ?

regards Peter

I got into something like this quite a while ago.

The eventual solution was to download a brand new script from the Sparx site and repeat the procedure. All went smoothly.

I did not see any obvious difference in the two scripts, though I did not do a thorough comparison. The older script (the one that did not work) was still fairly current, but obviously not quite up to snuff.

Meanwhile, have you done a project integrity check on your EAP file? If it passes, can you export the entire project to XMI and transfer it that way?

If the XMI trick works but the rest fails (and your integrity check passes), please report a possible bug to Sparx. If possible send them a compressed copy of the project. You can do this via the Registered Users bug report - the URL is on the Support page near the top.

No, you can't have it!
