EA Viewer
« on: April 01, 2009, 11:13:11 am »
Hi there everyone,

I would like to ask you if EA Viewer has the capability to connect to a remote database repository besides loading EAP files.

Thanks in advance.

Uh oh, there is something I have been missing- what is EA Lite? I did not find any reference to this doing a quick search.

EA Lite is a free viewer for EA models.
It works just like a normal EA except that you cannot change anything.

With EA Lite, which is free of charge, you can view models, but not change them, and not generate documentaion. The installation file for EA Lite is almost the same size as the Corporate Edition, and my experience is that our EA Lite get the same functionality of viewing the models as those using the Corprate Edition, but they can not make any changes, and they are not alowed to generate reports.
But it allows us to add the numbers of viewers we want, without affecting the software cost.

Ah, I definitely missed that one. Propably because I look first on the registered users download page and because the Sparx search engine on the web site did not return results.
Google helped and I found it.

Thanks for the pointers.

Not entirely your fault Oliver.

The Sparx site sometimes refers to EA Lite, sometimes EALite (i.e. one word or two), and sometimes the EA Viewer. Depending on what you searched for you might not see the download but only a (possibly cryptic) reference.

Note that you (or your clients and associates) can download EA Lite (by whatever name) from the EA Product page on the Sparx site - it is near the bottom of the page just below the EA trial version. It is not necessary to be a registered user. The EA help file is also available (although I believe that the EA Lite installation kit includes a copy. The PDF format documentation is also available from that page.

HTH, David

PS: Remember that EA Lite is updated along with each build EA (and the build numbers are the same). You should consider refreshing both at the same time when practical.

No, you can't have it!
