Filtering in documents

I am generating a document that documents the relationship between two elements.

In the document template the connector is used to determine the related element details.


The elements have connectors (of the same type) to both the elements I am interested in, and others that I do not want to see reported on (but are used in other reports).

What I want to do is filter/select the elements that are included in the report.
I have looked to see if I can

• filter by package (but filters work on elements)
• use a tagged value (but this filter is applied only on the source, not target elements)
