Huge size of HTML report
« on: March 21, 2013, 07:20:25 am »
Hi,

from a 5MB .eap file, I have generated an HTML report from the two biggest subfolders. They ended up with a total size of more than 40 MB (!) for 380 elements in 50 diagrams.

I could not trace that back to any huge attachment or anything like that. (The size of the subfolders, even over several layers, is roughly equally distributed)
Is that normal? :o

I just tried it with a 15Mb .EAP, and got a file structure which Windows says is 14Mb 'on disk' or 9.7 Mb (no idea why there are two numbers).
So your results do seem a bit strange...

Hey Ian,

thank you very much for your quick check.

I was able to identify the error that caused this:

The export folder for the report always has the same name.
Because I had not deleted the folder contents before generation of a new report, it seems that the old contents were never overridden by EA, but another subfolder structure was created instead.

So the folder was ever-growing due to the "legacy" report contents.

When I deleted all folder contents before generating the new report, the folder size ended up at roughly 5 MB ("7.5 MB on disk").

Just if anyone else runs into the issue, here is the solution. :)
