EA 4.0 Feedback
« on: March 03, 2004, 09:53:03 am »
Hello

Just downloaded 4BETA2. I have not worked very much with it but I like UI changes.

1- Initial dialog box of EA3.6 has gone and a those functions are now implemented on the background of main start page which I like very much (in fact I was going to ask if it is possible to make the initial dialog box optional.

2- Page Tabs: Great. But I have a few minor critics. First of all It would be better to have safe choices at the bottom of the context menu. One may click on "Close All" by mistake most of the time.

Also I personally prefer square corners for tabs instead of current round corner (we do not have a round corner in anywhere else in the UI neither in VStudio.NET).

3- I was looking for a PHP code generation settings page but there was none.

Anyway again I am very happy with EA , specially new UML 2.0 support.

Regards,
Mac

Having just completed a full project (using 3.6) I must re-iterate the feedback we got from our developer community, some of whom were active participants in using EA in group sessions (using a data projector) and others who were actiove users of the web pages.

The majority of complaints were that the web pages did not follow the same "flow" as the tool!  In particular, the active users found the web pages hard to navigate compared to the tool.  Their major complaint was that elements that expanded to new diagrams in EA took mulitple clicks to get to in the pages.  i.e. they wanted composite elements to navigate to the default diagram instead of the text page.

I see that in 4.0, many more elements are capable of being set as composite elements.  Thus I agree that  the web generator should be rejigged to follow the flow of the EA tool.

Oh I forgot, we aren't doing him are we.
