Instance Classifier Search
« on: March 22, 2005, 08:14:17 am »
It would be nice to have in the 'find object' a way to search objects by their instance classifier. For example, search for all childs of class 'Car'. Currently you can search by stereotype, name, etc, but no by classifier (or in no way i can see).

It is only a recomendation since i can use the 'Ussage' on the parent class to find all the instances, but i can't bookmark them from here.

Seconded - and elevated to "it would be helpful"

N.B. The Usage appproach will only find instances that are in diagrams.

It is possible to find all instances of a classifier by using the "Search Browser" button in the project browser by entering the full classifier name as the search string and clicking the "Contains" radio button.  But this only gets them one at a time.

p.s. Why would it be helpful?  Assessing the impact of changes to the classifier across the entire repository.  Individual object models can get out of synch with the abstract model in large projects very easily.

'Twere good you do so much for charity."

Oh I forgot, we aren't doing him are we.
