EA Lite doesn't have MDG VS.NET View icon
« on: May 05, 2005, 12:47:24 pm »
The EA Lite product doesn't appear to have the VS.NET view icon necessary for MDG views.

I'm guessing that is the reason behind the EA Lite error message when opening an EAP file with MDG views:

DAO.Recordset [3027]
Can't update. Database or object is read-only.

Any suggestions? Is there a better place to post this message?

Just being curious here, but why would you want the MDG Link to appear in the Lite version?
It's supposed to be a read-only version for presenting the model, i don't think it would be very usefull to show the code generated from it... a component diagram would be more suitable for that purposse...
Code is not good presentation material, that is the whole point of making diagrams (besides the obvious help in the abstraction making process).
Perhaps it would be usefull to explain the functionality of MDG Link and how to work with it...

Anyways, the error displayed is a bad sign.

This is a known bug (reported by me).  EA Lite (recent versions) will NOT open ANY model.  It's supposed to have been fixed in the latest release.

Confirm it won't open any model, then get the latest version if still a problem - submit a defect report.
