RTF support in notes and scenario
« on: May 26, 2005, 01:07:36 am »
The new rtf template support is great. I'm a little disappointed however that there's still no proper support for rtf in notes and scenario properties. It would be nice if we could at least use bold, underline, italic, bulleted and numered lists. This way the layout of these properties (which are often very important because these can contain a lot of important information which much be structured) can be managed.

Thanx and best regards,

Kobus.

Some people are never satisfied ;-)

I think that RTF-enabling notes and scenarios would create problems if these fields are used from Automation - maybe a very simple 'readable' BB or Wiki-style markup would be a good compromise, just to give (e.g.)
* lists
and *Bold*, /Italic/

which would be easy to parse out (or even just treat literally) if using Automation.

Having RTF in there would be a nightmare otherwise !!

I know that some people are never satisfied; I'm just behaving like those users we are building computer systems for.....  ;)

Using some wiki-style markup is fine by me if that's better for automation. In the EA user interface however, i would like to see the text actually presented bold, italic etc. In other words I would like a WYSIWYG editor with some buttons for making words or text bold, italic and making lists. How the text is saved internally doesn't really matter to me, but if the text is exported to rtf it should convert the internal format to rtf.....
Thanx and best regards,

Kobus.

The ability to this sort of markup would make using Cockburn type of notation for use cases scenarios a breeze. At the momemt it is very hard to indicate that part of the description is actually another Use Case to indicate a Use, Include etc. relationship.

And of course a Bold or Underline button markup type of control would be the perfect way to do this (for the user that is :)  )

Wiki syntax would be great.
The next thing from that would be a nice integration with a WIKI system for publishing the docs and images.

Confluence would be a good one, plus their an australian company.
