Ability to choose composite diagram to jump to
« on: October 04, 2005, 04:44:07 am »
When setting an item, f.e. a use case as a composite, one can go directly (by clicking it) to the underlying use case or whatever diagram is there.  However, if one has multiple diagrams under the compositee, the composite selects the first one created - it's not possible to set which compositee one means.  This should be available as a property of the use case (or whatever item one sets as a composite).

You can change the order of the diagrams with the handsymbols in the project-browser-toolbar. Allways the first diagram is opened when you click on the composit.

Andreas,
I think this is ONLY so if you are setting the link for the first time.

After that, you can change the order and it still opens the initially linked diagram.

Well, that might be the intention, and I thought earlier that it should work that way, but it doesn't do.  My version is 5.00. 766, and if I make a use case, make two diagrams below it, and sets the use case as  a composite, then move the  two diagrams by using the hand symbols, it always selects the diagram which was in place the first time when Set as Composite was used.  And it doesn't help to clear the Se Compositem, and reset it either, it stays the same.

It seems to be connected with the way EA save the data.  When I just switch between composite/non- composite, nothing changes.  Further, EA doesn't even offer me to save the changes (strange...).  If I close the model, and reloads it, then the composite works as intended.  The first one is selected.  Is this a bug related to the fact that EA doesn't allow you to save after all changes?  If I place another symbol onto the diagram, then I'm allowed to save, and the composite behaviour also works correctly.

Save just work on diagram changes which are stored intermediately (and can be undone). Everything else is directly stored in the database. As Paolo says: UI (Unique Interface) ;)

I assume you mean using an sql server as the repository - i've tried this out using just ordinary model files.
Anyway - is this a bug ?  If the behaviour should be as the first respondend said - use the "hands" to move to the first one - and that is the one used in a composite - then this must be a bug since it doesn't work that way without save/load or restart in between.

hmm... I'm confused,

I thought it was so, that the first one, is allways the default diagram. But it seems it's not so.

But since clearing the composite and reset it will not change the diagram which is opened, it seems for me to be a bug!

But before I say anymore wrong, I keep my mum.  :-X
bye

I agree. This behaviour doesn't seem to be correct. Use Sparx' bug report.

I've done so - it's reported as a bug. With a link to this thread too -  ;D

Thanks for the discussion !
