Better Use Case Scenario Input
« on: August 15, 2006, 05:15:25 am »
I have a problem in maintaining the Use Case Scenario and Constraints. Once they get transferred to a document, I end up reformatting, re-editing and so get the Use Case information in EA out of sync with the document I generate.

What would be nice is a way to improve the Scenario input and allow some connectivity between the Main Flow and Alternate/Exception Flows.

The automated input of the Steps in a Scenario within a tabular format e.g.

Step | Actor Action | System Action

Within each Action, the User could insert a link to the Alternate/Exception flows.

Adding or inserting a new step or Alternate flows will renumber the links. Tracing the flows into and out of the Alternate flows/back into the Main flow would be nice as well.

Attaching Pre/Post snapshot diagrams to the constraints would also help in formatting the whole Use Case documentation properly.

Also the Constraints need to be able to be created within their own separate sub-sections within the Use Case document.

Regards,

Martin

Oh! One extra thing.

If the Actions are organised with links to other flows, it might be possible to automatically generate an Activity diagram (with Swinlanes) from the Actions and Alternate Flows. Or vice-versa?
