TIP: Adding Diagram to Interface element
« on: June 24, 2005, 12:51:14 am »
Ever wanted to attach a Diagram to an Interface element (not a Class with stereotype «interface») with the EA GUI?

Today, I got to thinking consistently and orthogonally and it seemed to me I should be able to do it...

It appears NO CAN DO  ???

The (misnamed) Set as Composite Element option is not on the Advanced Settings context menu for an Interface.

However, if you change the type of the element (to Class) using Element|Change Type.  Then Set as Composite Element. Finally, change the type of the element (back to Interface).

You now have an attached diagram to an Interface element! 8) (repeated as many times as mikewhit would like! ;D)

Cheerz,
Paolo

I remeber this tip (in a different context) has already been posted, but I wouldn't have remembered, being in your situation. OOO (your trademark)

Maybe we should ask the Sparxians to create a TIPs Forum, where these kind of things could be collected?

Given the EA UI, a new user could go through that forum and "get up to speed" relatively quickly...

(And incidentally, Sparxians, probably avoiding a lot of the frustrations...  ;))

Senile,
Paolo

Why not at  Bruno's "Enterprise Architect User Group" (http://www.eausergroup.org/) site  ?

By all means, Oscar, put one there...

But I would have thought it in the manufacturer's own interest to have a (moderated) tip forum.  At least EA doesn't plague us with a "tip of the day" ;D.  But if I'm looking for tips, the manufacturer's site is where I'd go first...

Bump - to raise the profile of this issue again...

The following new proposal has been added: Attaching diagrams to elements which is related to this post.

Related posts are to be found in: Re: shape scripting/element properties, Double-Clicking for navigation and, perhaps most tellingly in: Re: Default Diagram and TIP: Adding Diagram to Interface element!

And bump again, as noted elsewhere.
