Add timing constraints between messages
« on: September 26, 2007, 06:43:07 am »
I am currently toying around with the sequenze diagramm. It seems to me that there is no way to add a timing constraint between two messages.
That is message 2 will start 5 secs after message 1

Somebody else brought this up quite recently.

I do not know if the other poster actually made a feature request to Sparx though.

Perhaps you'd like to do so. If so, please search my recent posts for a best practice we use to do this, while keeping both Sparx and the forum user community in the loop.

I am missing this constraint too:

I make a feature request to Sparx, but they missunderstood me and told me to use the 'Timing details'. So, it would be a good idea to write a new feature request.

How to do a feature request?
I am yet but a trail user, can I do feature requests?

Yes, you make these requests while running the trial version.

Here is the procedure:
Click the Feature Request link below the Support link at the bottom of any forum page. Fill in the form as appropriate for your request.

Here is a best practice many of the forum members use for feature requests and bug reports. You may wish to do the same:
In the description area of the form, include the name of the title of the forum thread in which you've posted your request or report. Also paste in the URL of your post (from your browser). This will give Sparx a reference. Also, if Sparx provides feedback to you on the subject, please post this to the same thread.

By doing this you will accomplish two additional things: Sparx personnel can monitor the thread for context and can participate in any discussion; often issues are resolved during this process. Also, this will keep the rest of the user community (that's us) informed on how things are progressing.

HTH, David

I have got a answer from the support about the DurationConstraint:
Quote
This duration constraint has been implemented and will most likely appear in Enterprise Architect 7.1

Is there already a release date for EA 7.1?

None I know of, given the relatively recent release of 7.0. That said, x.1 releases have often come rapidly after experience with the x.0 version. Keep you fingers crossed.
